Dakine Descent Shorts 2016

This year I have been wearing the 'Descent shorts' and they are durable, comfortable, built for all mountain and trail riding.
One of the best features from Dakine is that they have made short right up to 40" and this has allow guys like me to be able to wear a quality short designed for Downhill Racing. The 600-denier fabric is stretchy, meaning it will move with you on the bike but it is also tough and features a durable water repellent coating that will shrug off light showers. Even on muddy days after riding they clean up as if they where new and can be ready for the next days racing or trail riding. The Descent Shorts have ratchet waist adjusters that allow for the perfect fit with the tucked in or out shirt depending on your style. These shorts have a tailored fit with extra room at the knees to fit over knee pads but they are also not to baggy at the same time.

The only thing that is missing from it is the back pocket which I must say I found to be an issue with the new phone sizes and wallets full of cards. They do have a pocket in the leg which is handy but I am a creature of habit and need that back pocket.

Overall rating for the Descent Shorts is a 9.5/10

The Kali Maya Helmet

11/4/2015

by Peter Bethell (Team Hukkit)

I was stoked to get my hands on Kali’s new Maya helmet for the 440 Enduro Race. The Maya is Kali’s enduro helmet meaning that it offers more protection round the back of the head compared to a traditional cross country helmet. First impressions when I got it was how incredibly light it is, specifically it’s said to weigh only 350 grams! This is something I like about Kali, how they always seem to be developing their helmet technology to make them safer and lighter.

On my head the Maya was very snug and comfortable. It kept cool on my head and did not have any uncomfortable pressure points. It kept its nice fit with my goggles, meaning I could be Enduro as! The colour of the Maya I had was a fairly plain and simple black and white, however I have since seen that there is a stealthy 'Matt Black' and an ‘Enduro Bro Blue’ that looks super fresh! Another feature I liked was the built in GoPro or night riding light mount, which is a nice handy extra.

The Maya has so much advanced helmet technology and features I could go on for pages, but overall the Maya is a really nice helmet to wear. It is feather light and stays as cool as a XC helmet while having all the protection and features you want from an enduro helmet.
